a boat of asylum seekers reaching U.K

In United Kingdom, there is not one day without seeing a boat full of refugees, migrants seeking for asylum reaching their coast and the flow is basically ongoing. When it is not there, they arrived through the mediterranean sea on Spain’s coast, or Sicilia, or Italy from either Libya or anywhere they can get on a boat from. Usually it is not free, after following a long road from their home country, they have to give all what they got to smugglers just to be able to hope they will reach the land where they could enjoy free speech, allowance, benefits and work at a decent wage.

Today, there are 195 countries in the world. Some offer freedoms that others will never, free speech, freedom of expression, laws to protect you, borders to protect intruders, and that’s how the world is unfortunately. 195 ways of leading a country, and if a few look alike, they still have their own proper rules that define them as unique.

Top 10 best countries to live in the world

So by definition, if you live in any country in the world, regarding what you expect, your country might not grant what you are looking for in your life, or sometimes your life style doesn’t match the laws of your country. Sexuality, religion, opinion could lead you to jail or worst in some part of the world, and that, some other countries understand that, and they will help you to survive such oppression and repression from your governement.

But let’s have a look at the right of asylum. I quote:

“Each Contracting State, acting in the exercise of its sovereignty, shall endeavour in a humanitarian spirit to grant asylum in its territory toany persons eligible for the benefits of this Convention.”

“Every person has the right, in case of pursuit not resulting from ordinary crimes, to seek and receive asylum in foreign territory, in accordance with the laws of each country and with international agreements.”

Maybe the right way would be to run a criminal check on everybody before they register their fligh at the airport ? That would probably save some time within the country where migrants are seeking for Asylum, right ?

“During the drafting of the Refugee Convention, France and the United Nations Secretariat submitted a proposed article providing for, favourable consideration to the position of refugees seeking asylum from persecution.”

Here is the definition of persecution: hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs.

Well, these days that would cover a huge amount of situations, especially if you are on social media like basically almost everyone in the whole planet.

“The Yugoslavian representative proposed an additional article to the Covenant, providing for an individual’s right of asylum. This proposal failed, however, because many representatives did not consider the right of asylum to be an individual’s fundamental right and because there was disagreement as to the class of persons to whom asylum should be granted. Consequently, the Covenant, as adopted, contains no provision relating to asylum. Thus, under it, states have no obligation to grant asylum. Similarly, the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights is silent on a right to asylum.”

Therefore, why wasting the time of migrants, letting them hoping they could be granted asylum when countries could just let the world know that they won’t grant any Asylum request as they are entitled to do so, mm? Social media ? Backlash ?

“The Duty not to Return a Person to Persecution: the Principle of Non-Refoulement Although non-refoulement is not as sweeping as the right of asylum, it provides an asylum-seeker with at least a temporary refuge and thus partial or de facto asylum. The principle of non-refoulement is understood in international law as the duty of a statenot to return a person to a place of persecution.”

At the time this text was “adopted” by 175 coutries in the world, the so called third world was very often the craddle of corruption, slavery and whatever worst you can imagine. But times have changed and a lot are saying that third world is no more, because in almost every country in the world, you have access to the modern technology. Internet, medicine, transportation, television. A country like Philippines have all the best stuffs like in Europe, prices will be a bit different and not everybody will have the means to afford them but at least, it is accessible. And moreover, for a 1000$ per month, you would live very well, way above the average wage, so when you reach retirement, thrid world might give you even more than a western country.

I don’t deny the fact that in some countries, war is raging and makes life unbearable, and i do believe that asylum option is a good thing but when i see all the migrants coming over Europe, seeking asylum, i’m wondering if they are not just coming to seek a better life than fleeing a warzone or persecution.

A country like France went through a revolution in 1789 until 1793 which led to the decapitation of Louis XVI, king of France. The people fought to obtain their freedoms, to have a better life and they never ever had in mind to go to other places to flee the oppression of the Church, oppression of the King and the nobles. No, they stayed and they sacrified themselves for the sake of their children and their future.

Nowadays, i feel like people are just try to get a free pass to immigrate to another country instead of trying to change their country for a better one. This is not persecution, this is not oppression but simply conditions of a country that some don’t like.

I can count on my two hands the number of dictatures in the world where oppression from the government is so intense that it deprives people the freedom they are entitled to. Are all the migrants coming from those places ? How come we don’t see much people from China then ? A 1.4 billion people country, led by the communist party, oppressing its people to be the manufactory of the world, so i guess people would have still money to go away, or to revolt.

In some coutries in Africa, like Libya, Slavery does still exist, right now, yes, you can buy a black slave for about 200$, and some other black people are smuggling illegal migrants, taking all their money and send them to Europe because they know the EU is not just one country, so as soon as a country like Italy, did refuse to let any boat dock in any of its ports, lots of people on social media blame italians for being racist and other insults. In EU, some countries are pro immigration although other are simply against because they want to protect what they have, and for what a surge of migrant could jeopardize their system.

Maybe the problem is that Asylum rights are not up do date anymore. Blaming persecution is a bit too easy if people are just not happy where they live. Especially living in countries like France, England where healthcare, social services are very helpful which make them attractive. We hear from the last migrants reaching England that all they wanted was the social benefits. They were not fleeing persecution, they were not living in a country where war was raging and they were not scared for their life, no no, all they wanted was a better life. Is that the basis for asylum to be granted ? I don’t think so.

Just last year, on facebook, a filipina girl was the mistress of a married filipino guy who was temporary worker in Canada. The girl got pregnant and after anouncing it to couple of friends in Philippines, the word spread and not too long after that she was being harrassed by other filipinos saying she was a slut etc. Well she asked to the Canada governement right of asylum because she said she was persecuted online from Philippines and that she couldn’t go back home because she feared for her life. She got granted.

In Jamaïca, Even if it’s not criminal to be gay, the country has a british colonial buggery law which outlaws men to have anal sex between them. So with all the LGBTQ lobby going around the world, everybody gets involved through internet and basically are forced to take side. The lobby pushes anybody who has a borderline sexuality to come out and to choose a sexuality (among 100 type lmao). The results are that for a christian population, that doesn’t sound very good at all and that led to an obvious discrimination, bullying, oppression.

But if you follow the supposedly progress of the world, should Jamaïca formally recognize the freedom of the sexuality instead of having people fleeing their country to request asylum somewhere else ? That just proves us that anybody could find any reason to request asylum and for the most liberal or socialist countries, they will be granted because they need votes at their next elections. We can clearly see that things need to evolve because it starts to be ridiculous and when you see that in some countries, the population votes for the populist party, well, it tells you it is time for a change.

By the way, i just read an article on the world demography, and we are going down my dears. By the end of the century China will fall from 1.4 billion to 730 millions people, Spain will collapse to the half while Nigeria will be the second most populated country in the world. Maybe you should invest in nigerian real estate then..
